01 :: Amazonian Dugout

The Amazon River is over 70 000 km of fish-filled waters that also irrigate a large part of South America. For centuries, the natives have deftly manoeuvred their dugouts on the river, filled with passengers and goods.


Lecouvie seems to have been fascinated with traditional boats, generally just a footnote in the official history of sailing. There is an impressive aspect of his collection, revealing a perspective that tends to come back today.
